Origins-USA Statement on the Right of All U.S. Citizens to Truthful Birth Certificates, April 24, 2009
Origins-USA, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization representing mothers who lost children to adoption, supports legislation which would give adoption-separated persons access to original and true birth certificates that pertain to them. Such access should be equal to that of any non-adopted citizens. Origins-USA opposes any legislation that discriminates against people separated by adoption. Origins-USA opposes the issuance of falsified birth records, known as "Amended Birth Certificates," which falsely name the adopters as the parents of birth to the adopted individual. Birth records and birth certificate registrations should reflect the truth about parentage and identity.

$1000 Fundraising Goal Met! Video Production Is Underway!!!
Adoption is not about unwanted babies, it's about unwanted mothers. We know this and now we have an exciting opportunity to tell others. Award winning filmmaker Sara Aderhold has graciously donated her time--a $15,000 in-kind contribution --to produce an Origins-USA promotional video featuring mothers telling their stories of surrender, loss, and reunion, as well as facts and statistics from credible sources like the United Nations. The video will serve as a tool to educate the public, change societal attitudes about adoption and mothers, and inform new mothers of options. Sara completed the filming in Denver in October 2008.
Thanks to generous donations from members, Origins-USA met it's goal of $1000, and production has begun! The 6 hours of video are now being transcribed, and the next step will be for Sara to create a script. After production is completed, additional donations will be needed to help distribute and publicize the video, to raise awareness of how adoption affects mothers and why we need better options. You can still be part of history--donate today and get your name listed in the film credits! Read more about this valuable project and donate today to help with distributing this eye-opening video!
