The Mothers' Story Project: A Mothers' Story

Being 16 years old when I became pregnant, I was afraid, ashamed, and embarassed. I had a good relationship with my parents, who had great expectations for me. I realized that I had dashed their hopes for me and hurt them deeply. They did not find out until I was 7 months pregnant.

I COMPLETELY understand the stories that had come out a few years ago about the young girls that had babies in the bathroom at a dance, etc. I was in complete denial. Everything in my life had been good up to this point. I expected this "problem" to just go away. 

My parents took over and made all of my arrangements. They did not show anger, or threaten. They just proceeded to do what they thought was best for me, the baby and the family. It was a TOTAL secret. No one else in my family had any idea.

My life has ben completely effected. I would love reunion. The records are sealed, and cannot be opened. THIS DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. I have been trying. I have hired a search engine.

I do not wish to invade my son's life. I would completely respect his wishes. I would like to have the opportunity to have correspondence, and a chance to exchange information, feelings, ideas, etc. with him. He is entitled to background and medical information. There is a serious medical reason for him to have this information. I understand he may be angry and resentful, and I am willing for him to vent that on me if it would help him. I would like the opportunity to prove to him that I would like to slowly build a relationship.
